Rossland is located in the beautiful Kootenay Rockies Region of British Columbia, and is home of Red Mountain Resort and Big Red Cats, the world's largest cat skiing operation. With the addition of Grey Mountain at RED Mountain we now have one of the biggest ski resorts in western Canada. Located on the Powder Highway, in the Kootenay Rockies, Rossland offers both summer and winter charm. An unpretentious community which still offers a unique and authentic experience to all of our visitors.
The Black Jack Ski area is also located here and provides over 30 kms of beautifully groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. With the addition of the Hanna Creek Biathlon area, there is now even more trails for everyone to enjoy.
During the summer Rossland is the home of the IMBA Epic Seven Summits Ride, a 36km trail along the ridgeline of 7 mountains. We have over 200 kms of maintained, labelled and authorized singletrack trails! Daily shuttles and group rides are also available. We also have great hikes including Old Glory, and Mount Roberts to name a few.
Additionally Redstone Golf Resort which is a Les Furber designed course and offers a challenging mountain style golf course. Within a short drive we have another 8 great golf courses including Birchbank, Christina Lake, Castlegar, Granite Pointe, and Balfour, making Rossland the perfect location as a base for your golf holiday in the West Kootenays.
Our disc golf course is phenomenal and a great way to pass the day with the family or friends. We also have easy access to the Columbia and Western Rail Trail which is an extension of Kettle Valley Railway and part of the Trans Canada Trail.
If you like fishing- we have tons of great places to go that are not very far away.
Our events and festivals are world class and include the Rossland Winter Carnival- which is the last weekend in January.
We also have some of the best shopping in the Kootenays and our boutiques have something for everyone.
For hiking we have a wide range of trails for all abilities- from an easy 30 minute walk to multi day alpine vistas.
